How to Install a FiveM MLO on Your FiveM Server

Installing a FiveM MLO is simple: download it, place it in the right folder, start it from server.cfg, and test it in-game. Most issues come from missing ensure lines, wrong folder nesting or forgotten dependencies. This guide works for ESX, QBCore and standalone resources.

What you need

  • Access to resources and server.cfg.
  • A licensed MLO archive.
  • Permission to restart resources.

Download and place it

Extract the archive. The resource should contain fxmanifest.lua (or older __resource.lua) and a stream folder. Avoid resources/my-mlo/my-mlo/ double nesting; the ensured folder must directly contain the manifest. Copy it into resources/[maps]/your-mlo-name/.

Ensure it

Add this to server.cfg:

ensure your-mlo-name

Ensure dependencies first, and start maps before scripts that teleport players into them.

Restart and test

Watch the console for errors. In-game, walk entrances, stairs and elevators; check floors, lighting and collisions; then run one relevant EMS, mechanic or housing loop.

Troubleshooting

  • Vanilla location: verify the resource name and console.
  • Fall-through: re-extract and check stream files.
  • Crash: disable conflicting maps and test alone.
  • Wrong markers: update script coordinates.

Document your MLOs, avoid maps editing the same shell, and update one major interior at a time. Start with a hospital, mechanic bay and houses, then browse the FiveM MLOs catalogue.
